During the press day for At Middleton film, I had the chance to interview Andy Garcia. Let me say that again. Andy Garcia. Yes THAT Andy Garcia.

Andy Garcia Interview for At Middleton Film

Note: I was invited as media to this event. Any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.

While I had seen him live and in person during the At Middleton Film screening with The New York Film Critics Series (NYFCS), that was a public event. There was 4 rows of people between us.

This time it would be just me and Andy in the room talking about his latest film At Middleton, released in theaters, On Demand and on iTunes on January 31, 2014.

To say that I was nervous in an understatement but Andy was down to earth and very easy going. Before starting the interview we joked about needing an extra hour of sleep. Yes I shared a joke with Andy Garcia. He has a good sense of humor.

And it's this sense of humor that comes out in George, the character Andy plays in At Middleton. George who starts the movie as a very by the books (and a little up tight) guy who learns to relax a little and be open to possibilities.

During the interview Andy also talked about the music connection he and Vera shares both in the movie and in real life. It's a very sweet connection that makes their on screen romance both honest and natural.

I really enjoyed my interview with Andy. Yes part of it was about being starstruck but the other part was about hearing first hand what goes into his process as an actor and producer. Andy feels very strongly about At Middleton and the message he, Adam Rodgers and Glenn German hope the movie will open others to.

It's all about life and the connections we make. A great message to be found in a movie. I really hope my readers go see At Middleton!

SYNOPSIS

In AT MIDDLETON, Andy Garcia and Vera Farmiga star as straight-laced George and eccentric Edith, two strangers who meet on their children's campus tour at the idyllic Middleton College. Failing comically to connect with their kids, George and Edith play hooky together, ditching the official tour for a carefree adventure reminiscent of their own college years.

The film’s supporting cast includes Vera Farmiga’s real-life sister, Taissa Farmiga ("American Horror Story"), Spencer Lofranco (JAMESY BOY), Peter Riegert (“Dads,” ANIMAL HOUSE), Tom Skerritt (“Picket Fences,” A RIVER RUNS THROUGH IT), Nicholas Braun (THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER), and newcomers Daniella Garcia-Lorido and Stephen Borrello.
