Barone Fini Wines Celebrates Ferragosto at iTrulli Restaurant
Have you heard of Ferragosto? It's an annual Italian holiday celebrated on August 15 that encourages everyone to gather together, break bread, and enjoy the fruits of the labor season.
Note: I was invited as media to this event. Any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.
I LOVED the idea behind this holiday. So I was glad to attend a luncheon with Barone Fini wines at I Trulli Enoteca e Restorante to learn about a partnership to celebrate Ferragosto and also give back to the community.
This coming August 15, Barone Fini wines has partnered with iTrulli, to bring a taste of Ferragosto to the United States with a special menu of some of its finest foods paired with Barone Fini wines.
The four-course menu will be $58, plus $10 per glass of Barone Fini wine. For every glass of Barone Fini wine that’s poured, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to The Food Bank For New York City.
During the luncheon I met Giovanni Bonmartini-Fini, President of Barone Fini and 15th generation family member, who shared that Barone Fini dates back to 1497 when two noble Venetian families (Bonmartini and Fini) united in marriage and began producing wine.
Giovanni explained the different types of Barone Fini wines paired with our meals and why it's important to know more about where and how wines are produced.
Barone Fini cultivate grapes in a natural was as much as possible. All the fruit is sourced from old vines and is hand harvested and subjected to rigorous hand sorting to ensure only the best fruit is used.
This attention to the process has produced wines that taste SO good! During the luncheon I enjoyed tasting
- Pinot Grigio, Valdadige
- Pinot Grigio, Alto Adige
- Merlot, Trentino
While tasting each wine, I also enjoyed sampling a few Italian dishes which included pasta which is hand-rolled daily by matriarch Dora Marzovilla, who briefly came out to meet us and explain how a few dishes are made. I was so amazed by her!
A few of the items found on the iTrulli menu that I enjoyed paired with Barone Fini wines. I'm telling you, it's an awesome food and wine pairing!
As you can see it was a full day of enjoying a great meal with friends!
I hope you grab some friends or family and visit I Trulli Enoteca e Restorante to celebrate Ferragosto with a meal from the special menu and a glass of Barone Fini.
