7 Spring Cleaning Tips to Keep Homes Pest Free

By 4/29/2020 04:11:00 PM ,

With Spring weather here, it's time to clean up our homes and living areas. Dust off the cobwebs, sweep out the spiders and pack things away from moths and rodents.

Note: This post is in partnership with EarthKind. I received product samples for review purpose. Any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.

During my Spring cleaning moments, I went from the bottom basement all the way up stairs to the bedrooms. With a house full of adults and children, you have to be on top of cleaning and pest control.

Now that we have the home cleaned up, I added an extra layer of pest control by leaving EarthKind’s Stay Away® pouches in certain areas. I used the pouches because I like the idea of natural pest repellents. I don't want to worry about chemicals in the home or around the kids.

The EarthKind’s Stay Away® pouches come prepacked and sealed so all you have to do is open and place where you want pest control. There is an added bonus of making the areas smell very nice since their made with essential oil ingredients.

Do you want to spring clean and keep your home pest free, while your family has to stay at home for weeks? Then learn about and use these tips.

I'm sharing these (5) tips from pest prevention expert, CEO/Founder of EarthKind, Kari Warberg Block, to help prevent spring pest infestations:

7 Spring Cleaning Tips to Keep Homes Pest Free

  • Clean up areas where traces of pet food may be present to eliminate attractants that can lure pantry moths, ants and mice into the space. Dog food is the number 1 rodent attractant.
  • Transfer dry food into airtight glass, metal, or plastic containers to protect it from moths, weevils and small beetles.
  • Look closely to identify tiny cracks in the walls, windows, doors, and around plumbing and electrical wires. Seal them with caulk or weatherstrip so rodents and pests can’t get in.
  • Fix any leaks. A leaky faucet or water seeping indoors will encourage critters like spiders, ants and cockroaches to come in and stay awhile.
  • Move all furniture to thoroughly vacuum for crumbs, and wash windows with treat-ments according to their labels. Pests are drawn to all the dirt, clutter, and crumbs that accumulate where you spend the most time
  • Ditch the cardboard boxes. Store winter items in air-tight storage bags to protect them from pests that are attracted to cardboard, like cockroaches, silverfish, moths and termites
  • Replace traps and poisons with plant-based repellents like EarthKind’s Stay Away® Spiders, Ants, and Moth pouches. Stay Away® brings fresh spring scents in, while keeping pests out!

EarthKind’s plant-based, poison-free pest repellents, for Rodents, Ants, Moths and Spiders, will create a pest-free zone for your home, and are safe for use around children and pets when used as directed.
