12 Netflix Picks to Teach Kids Kindness & Acceptance
As my son gets ready to go back to school, I hope to get him prepared with everything he needs to know. He's already gotten the basics of reading, math and writing down so this year I wanted to focus on his social skills. The age of 6 years is a good time to reinforce how he should act with his classmates, teachers and anyone he meets.
Note: I'm part of Netflix #StreamTeam program. While I have been compensated to share information and news about their service, any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.
One of the lessons I want to refresh with him is how to be kind. Which for a 6 year old isn't always easy. At this age he still has some "me, me, me" tendencies that he needs gentle coaching away from. Thankfully, there's lots of little ways you can teach kids to do a kind act, that has big results.
One way to help kids learn the lesson of being kind, is by watching these 12 Netflix titles that promote kindness and acceptance.
For your big kids:
1. Rudy
2. Mulan
3. A Mile in His Shoes
4. Radio
5. Good Luck Charlie: Down a Tree
6. Glee
For your little ones:
1. Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, Vol. 1 Ep. 6: Friends Help Each Other
2. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, Season 3, Ep. 4: One Bad Apple
3. Arthur, Season 15, Ep. 8: Muffy's Classic Classy Club / Best Enemies
4. The Hunchback of Notre Dame
5. Super Why, Season 1, Ep. 61: The Ugly Duckling: Becoming a Swan
6. The Fox and the Hound
Hopefully our kids will learn that kindness and acceptance are just as important as any academic lessons.
