3 Reasons See Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in Dolby Cinema
Like many Black Panther fans, I looked forward to the sequel Wakanda Forever releasing. So when the Dolby team invited me to see it in a Dolby Cinema, I was ready with my popcorn and Kimoyo Beads!
Note: I was invited as media to the movie screening. However any personal views expressed are always 100% my own.
Marvel Studios’ Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is one of those movies you need to see with all the Dolby Cinema perks and technology, because it has such an epic story.
A story that you'll want to fully experience with all your senses. And being in a Dolby Cinema does exactly that!
Major Storytelling
The story itself covers so much from dealing with the passing of King T’Challa’s to Shuri growing into her own skin, while facing a war with Namor. There's so much storytelling!
But the story is told with such heart and feeling that the over two hour runtime doesn't seem enough! It was so nice to "spend time" with different characters and see how they affect the story.
And yes there was tons of Easter eggs from past and future Marvel movies. It was fun to see how they wove them into scenes.
Feeling the Emotions
While you'll enjoy the action, it's all about the emotion behind the characters and scene. The visual and sounds of the film really get you into the "feel" of what happening.
The Emotions of Wakanda Forever in Dolby Cinema
To learn more about how and why, watch this Dolby interview featuring the film’s writer/director, Ryan Coogler, and composer Ludwig Göransson, where they discuss vision and sound inspirations.
0:53 –Coogler: “We used Dolby Atmos to give our audiences the experience of being immersed in Talokan really strategically. We know so little about what’s down there in the ocean. We wanted to respect how dark and frightening it would be. And also this idea of that, that there could be life down there that would be almost alien to us.”
Getting the Dolby Cinema Experience
Unlocks the emotional impact of Wakanda Forever, to see subtle details and ultra vivid colors (courtesy of Dolby Vision) and hear sounds come to life all around you (thanks to Dolby Atmos).
So what can you expect from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever?
- Vibrant Worlds Come to Life Dolby Vision makes every detail of landscapes, sea animals, and intricate costumes come to life –with a range of colors and contrast than you’d ever thought possible.
- Journey Under the Sea - Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos elevates the undersea kingdom of Talokan, where much of the action takes place. See how the underwater world appears vibrant and lifelike, and listen to how the sounds of Talokan are placed over your head and all around you to give you the sense that you’re really underwater.
- Sound as a Weapon - With Dolby Atmos, fighting scenes are brought to the next level as you’ll hear how these sounds move all around you, as if you’re in the middle of a high-stakes action sequence. You’ll notice some of the characters use sound as a weapon, with sonic cannons and the hypnotic melodies of Talokan.
