Applying for Apple Swift Student Challenge 2025
Apple’s Swift Student Challenge gives students the opportunity to showcase their creativity and join a worldwide community of developers using Swift, the programming language used by professionals, to create the next groundbreaking apps.
Submissions for the 2025 Swift Student Challenge opens February 2025 for three weeks.
But students, educators, and their interested family and friends can find out how to prepare for the challenge and sign up to be notified when applications open.
Apple will select 350 Swift Student Challenge winners whose submissions demonstrate excellence in innovation, creativity, social impact, or inclusivity. From this esteemed group, 50 Distinguished Winners receive additional recognition and be invited to Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino next summer.
All winners will receive one year of membership in the Apple Developer Program, a special gift from Apple, and more.

Swift Student Challenge 2025
Applying
To be eligible for the Challenge, at the time you submit your app playground you must:
- Be 13 years of age or older in the United States, or the equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction (for example, 16 years of age in the European Union);*
- Be registered for free with Apple as an Apple developer or be a member of the Apple Developer Program; and
- Fulfill one of the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in an accredited academic institution or official homeschool equivalent;
- Be enrolled in a STEM organization’s educational curriculum;
- Be enrolled in an Apple Developer Academy; or
- Have graduated from high school or equivalent within the past 6 months and be awaiting acceptance or have received acceptance to an accredited academic institution.
Swift Coding Club
Apple is also unveiling updated Swift Coding Club resources to help students prepare for the Swift Student Challenge, while building community and developing skills for a future career.
The Swift Coding Club starter kit provides activities to empower students with a passion for app development to further explore Swift and SwiftUI and spread the word among their peers.
